Golovkin Wins by Second Round KO Against Dominic Wade

Gennady “GGG” Golovkin defeats Dominic Wade in two seconds round two of a 12 round fight as The Forum in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday Night.

GGG retains WBA, IBF, IBO, and WBC Middleweight titles.

Golovkin managed to knock down Wade a total of three times: first in round one and twice in round two.

GGG completely, and utterly, dominated the entire fight in spectacular fashion. Needless to say, it was a no-brainer.

To be blunt, GGG has unfortunately faced a handful of opponents who…are just not up to his level. Clearly, Wade was not. No offense to Wade, though. I’ve got nothing but respect for that guy. ANYONE who is brave enough to step into the ring with Golovkin deserves credit.

So, obviously, after the fight, what is the first thing that is brought up? Of course: Canelo.

GGG vs. Canelo is a fight that the boxing world is just waiting for to happen.

“Just give me my belt!” were the words that Golovkin said when Canelo was brought up.

Canelo has said that he would watch the fight (whether or not live on television or on DVR, we don’t know).

As for Golovkin’s power, it is, in fact, the real deal according to Wade:

“His power is real. It was more than I even expected. I was trying to get comfortable in there. Once he hits you, it makes it very difficult to get comfortable. I could have done one or two things a little differently in there, but he’s a great champion, and he has everything you need to be a champion.”

Golovkin landed 54 out of 133 punches while Wade landed 22 out of 75 punches.

Golovkin and his team are hoping to fight again within a few months.

Golovkin will also be in attendance for the Canelo vs. Khan on May 7th. Canelo will be defending his WBC Middleweight title at a catchweight of 155 lbs.
